Our form of Jiu Jitsu is based on the Juko Ryu and Aiki jitsu systems, as taught by Grand Master Richard Morris Soke 10th degree, the founder of Jiu Jitsu International. Soke Morris along with the co-founders of the World Jiu Jitsu Federation, Master Robert Clark Soke and James Bludell Soke set about creating a modern Jiu Jitsu training syllabus back in the late 60’s early 1970’s. This syllabus was a combination of their shared vast knowledge and skills. They wanted an effective art while still retaining the Japanese traditions and values, a true self defence system. Being a former student, friend and business partner of Morris Soke gave Paul the perfect opportunity to learn from one of the best and most renowned Jiu Jitsu masters in the world. Senshi Jiu Jitsu is a continuation of the teachings of Morris Soke with the added knowledge and adaptations of our teacher, Paul Treacy Hanshi. He started his study of Jiu Jitsu at the age of 13yrs old gaining his Black belt at 17yrs old. Paul also met and was fortunate to be taught by Grand master Brian Dossett Soke 10th degree, founder of Spirit combat (a fusion of Jiu Jitsu and Aikido) who was another pioneer of Jiu Jitsu in the UK and Europe. So, you will find we have a rich and varied history with years of teaching experience and knowledge to share.
